Training Disclaimer
Effective date: October 4, 2026
Training Compliance Canada builds online courses, free previews, practice tests and templates for equipment operators, trainers and employers. This page explains what they are, and what they are not. It forms part of our Terms and Conditions.
Our courses are general education
Our courses teach general knowledge and safe practices. They don’t replace the training every operator also needs for the specific equipment, attachments, site and conditions they work with, including hands-on training, a practical evaluation by a competent person and the manufacturer’s instructions for the equipment.
A certificate shows completion, not competency
A certificate from Training Compliance Canada shows that a person completed an online course and passed its knowledge check. It isn’t a licence, an endorsement, a government certification or proof that the person is competent to operate equipment. Sample certificates from free previews show only that a preview module was completed.
Employers stay responsible
Under occupational health and safety laws, employers are responsible for making sure workers are trained, competent and supervised, and for authorizing workers to operate equipment. Our courses and templates can support that work. They don’t transfer any of those responsibilities to Training Compliance Canada, and completing a course doesn’t mean an employer has met its legal obligations.
Legal information is not legal advice
Our courses summarize parts of Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code, and other laws and standards, for training purposes. The summaries are simplified, they aren’t legal advice, and the law changes. Always check the current legislation, standards and guidance that apply where you work. If you work outside Alberta or in a federally regulated workplace, different rules may apply.
Templates are starting points
Lesson plans, evaluation forms, checklists and training records we provide are examples. Each employer should adapt them to its own equipment, hazards, procedures and legal requirements before using them.
Practice tests and previews
Our practice tests and free previews are written by Training Compliance Canada. They aren’t official government tests, and passing them doesn’t qualify anyone for a licence, endorsement or certificate. Our air brake course is a knowledge course and refresher. It isn’t an approved air brake course and doesn’t lead to a Q endorsement.
We are independent
Training Compliance Canada is an independent business. We aren’t affiliated with, approved by or endorsed by the Government of Alberta, any other government, any regulator, any equipment manufacturer or any employer, including the employers our team members have worked for. Our courses are our own work. Product names and trademarks are used only to describe equipment, and belong to their owners.
Accuracy
We take care to keep our courses accurate and up to date, but we can’t promise they are free of errors or cover every situation. If you spot something that looks wrong, please tell us and we’ll look at it.
Third-party content
Some photos are used under Creative Commons and other licences and are credited where they appear. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content.
Use of our training
Operating equipment carries real risks. Decisions about who operates equipment, and how, are made by employers, supervisors and operators. To the extent the law allows, Training Compliance Canada isn’t responsible for injuries, damage or losses that result from operating equipment or from workplace decisions, as set out in our Terms and Conditions.
