Propane Handling and Cylinder Exchange

For workers who change forklift cylinders, run exchange cages or use propane on the job: how propane behaves, cylinder dates, inspection, changing cylinders, leak tests, storage, transport and emergencies.

Course Description

Propane is stored as a liquid under pressure and turns into a large, heavier-than-air gas cloud when it leaks. This course is for workers who change forklift cylinders, run cylinder exchange cages, or use propane heaters and torches on the job.

You also get a printable cylinder inspection and exchange log with a weekly storage check.

  • How propane behaves and why leaks are dangerous
  • Reading cylinder markings and requalification dates
  • Inspecting cylinders and refusing damaged or expired ones
  • Changing a forklift cylinder and leak-testing the connection
  • Storage and transport
  • Leaks, fire and frostbite first aid

This is awareness training. Filling cylinders and installing propane equipment take separate certification, and TDG training is separate.

Online courses are one part of operator training. They don't replace site-specific training, a hands-on practical evaluation or your employer's authorization, and a certificate of completion isn't a licence or proof of competency. See our training disclaimer.
