About this course

Most workers want to do the right thing but aren't sure what the law expects of them, or what to do when they see something unsafe. This short course covers your duties and your rights under Alberta's OHS Act, and shows you how to do your part in a way you can prove.

It is training, not legal advice, and it doesn't replace your employer's own orientation and training.

What you’ll learn

  • Your duties as a worker under section 5 of the OHS Act
  • Your rights to know, to participate and to refuse
  • Spotting hazards, making them safe and reporting them
  • The right to refuse dangerous work, step by step, and your protection from reprisal
  • What to do after an incident or near miss
  • Habits and records that show you did your part

Online courses are one part of operator training. They don't replace site-specific training, a hands-on practical evaluation or your employer's authorization, and a certificate of completion isn't a licence or proof of competency. See our training disclaimer.
