Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 4, 2026

Training Compliance Canada (“we”, “us”) runs trainingcompliance.ca. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We’re based in Calgary, Alberta, and we handle personal information under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information we collect

When you create an account or buy a course

  • Your name, email address, username and password (stored in encrypted form)
  • Billing details: name, company, address, phone number and email
  • Order details: what you bought, when, and how many seats

Payments are processed by WooPayments (powered by Stripe) and PayPal. We never see or store your full card number.

When you take a course

  • Your lesson progress, knowledge check answers and scores, completion dates and certificates
  • Progress within a course is also saved in your own browser so you can pick up where you left off

When someone buys a seat for you

If your employer or another person buys a course seat for you, they give us your name and email address so we can create your account and send your login. The person who bought the seat can see your name, email, enrolment date and whether you have completed the course.

Free previews and sample certificates

To get a sample certificate, you give us your name, email address and, if you choose, your company. We record which preview you took and your score, email you the certificate and keep a record of your request. If you tick the box for course updates, we may email you about new courses. We may also send one follow-up email about the full course a few days after your preview. Every marketing email we send identifies us and includes an unsubscribe link.

When you contact us

Your name, email address and anything you include in your message.

Collected automatically

  • Your IP address, browser and device information. We use these to protect the site from spam, fraud and attacks (including login protection, a firewall and blocking traffic from some countries) and to keep the site running.
  • Google Analytics information about how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed, approximate location and device type
  • When an order is placed, how the visitor found the site (for example, a search engine or a link)
  • Cookies, described below

How we use it

  • To provide courses, create accounts, process orders and issue certificates
  • To keep training records that learners and employers can rely on
  • To answer questions and provide support
  • To send emails you need, such as receipts, logins and certificates
  • To send marketing emails, only with your consent, and always with a way to unsubscribe
  • To protect the site, our customers and us from fraud, spam and attacks
  • To understand how the site is used and improve it
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting requirements

We don’t sell personal information.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the site, and only what they need to do that work:

  • Website hosting: NameHero
  • Website performance and content delivery: QUIC.cloud
  • Payments: WooPayments (Stripe) and PayPal
  • Analytics and spam protection: Google (Google Analytics and reCAPTCHA)
  • Website security: Wordfence

We also share information with the person or organization that bought your course seat, as described above; when the law requires it or to protect our legal rights; and, if the business is ever sold, with the buyer, who must protect it under this policy.

Storage outside Canada

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessed by its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities. You can ask our privacy officer for information about how our service providers outside Canada handle personal information.

Cookies

  • Essential cookies keep you logged in, keep track of your cart and protect our forms. The site can’t work properly without them.
  • Analytics cookies from Google Analytics help us understand how the site is used. You can block them in your browser settings or with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

We don’t use advertising or targeting cookies.

How long we keep it

  • Training records (progress, scores, completion dates and certificates): while your account is open, and for up to seven years after your last course activity, so you and your employer can verify your training
  • Order and payment records: as long as tax laws require, generally six years
  • Sample certificate requests: up to two years, or until you ask us to delete them
  • Security logs: for a limited time, usually a few months

How we protect it

The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), passwords are stored in encrypted form, access to personal information is limited to people who need it, and we use security monitoring and firewall tools. No system is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee security. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we’ll notify you and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

  • You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it.
  • You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in the email.
  • You can ask us to close your account and delete your information. We may need to keep some records, such as order records and training records, for the periods described above.

To make a request, contact our privacy officer. We’ll respond within 45 days. If you aren’t satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

Children

Our courses are designed for workers and employers. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have, we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the new version on this page with a new effective date, and tell account holders by email about significant changes.
