Walk-Behind Snow Equipment Safety

Walk-behind snow equipment clears the places trucks can’t reach. It’s compact, but its augers, impellers and brooms cause serious hand injuries, and operators get pinned, struck by thrown objects and burned refuelling. This course covers how those injuries happen and how to prevent them.

What learners cover:

• Single-stage and two-stage snow blowers, and two-wheel tractors with blower, broom and blade attachments
• The pre-use check, PPE and walking the route, with a printable checklist
• Starting, driving, slopes and reversing safely, including machines with swung handlebars
• Clearing a clogged chute the right way, with an interactive step-by-step exercise
• Aiming the discharge and sweeping safely around people, vehicles, windows and roads
• Refuelling, carbon monoxide, noise and hand-arm vibration

Format: self-paced and interactive, with real-world scenarios and a 12-question knowledge check (80% to pass). Learners who pass get a certificate of completion they can download right away, and their score and completion date are kept on file.
