Anyone who handles, offers for transport or transports dangerous goods by road in Canada must be trained for those duties under the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Regulations. This online course covers the core TDG knowledge for road transport.
What learners cover:
- The nine classes of dangerous goods, UN numbers, shipping names and packing groups
- Consignor, carrier and consignee duties
- What a shipping document must contain and where the driver keeps it
- Labels, placards and when placards are required
- Emergency Response Assistance Plans (ERAPs)
- What to do and who to call if there is a release, including CANUTEC
- How TDG training certificates work
Format: self-paced and interactive, with real-world scenarios and a 10-question knowledge check (80% to pass). Learners who pass get a certificate of completion they can download right away, and their score and completion date are kept on file.
Please note: under the TDG Regulations, the employer issues the TDG training certificate once they are satisfied the employee is adequately trained for their duties. This course provides the training; the certificate of completion is your record that it was done.
